'No angel' was created during my Rothko Symposium residency in Latvia earlier this month. It’s part of a series of works based on my 12-year-old son, a mixing bowl of experience, imagination and observation. It’s tender, but awkward. A collision of figuration and abstraction that reflects his shift from child to adolescent.
